It’s All About That Paint
Hey friends! It’s week 4 of the One Room Challenge and the walls are finally painted. Really, there’s no reason painting should take this long but somehow it did.
I took two trips to Home Depot this week for supplies: paint and chair rail.
The paint colors are looking great! I’m using black on the bottom 1/3 and decided to go with the Adirondack Blue from last week on the top 2/3. The paint coated like a dream on the fireplace.
But on the walls? Another story. I’m not sure I’d go with the Marquee on drywall again. I ended up with some significant lap marks. You could blame the painter for sure, but I usually do better so let’s say the blame is shared.
So my verdict: I’d use Marquee on furniture and trim (in satin) and go with another brand for walls.
I also picked up some chair rail. I’m not in love.
It’s feeling a little dated so I think I may go with a simple board and batten for this room.
Why not keep adding to the to-do list??
All this to say, we are firmly in the messy middle and I’m working towards wading my way out.
What’s Next?
Next week I need to make a decision on the trim for the black part of the wall. I’ll also be pricing out the supplies to build a TV console and figuring out whether a build is doable, or if I need a plan C.
Come back next week for another update on the living room design progress and in the meantime, be sure to check out the other participants in the One Room Challenge. Show them some love!
